There are many festivals throughout the region that celebrate the special Marches cuisine from May to
September. It all starts with GustoPolis in Gabicce Mare (PU), while in June the Brodetto week takes place
in Porto Recanati (MC). The Anghiò del Pesce Azzurro festival in San Benedetto del Tronto (AP) is very
popular and takes place in July. Porto San Giorgio (FM) organizes its festival Vongolopolis which celebrates
the clams in July and the Sea Festival (August), famous for its huge pan with fresh fish from the Adriatic, is
an event not to be missed! The typical dishes of the sailor are celebrated during the International Festival
of Brodetto and fish soups, in Fano (PU), usually in the second week of September. Another traditional
festival during the second week of September takes place in Ancona, the Stoccafissando, when the
stockfish is prepared following an ancient local recipe.
The Marches boast an enogastronomic tradition made of genuine ingredients and unique flavors. One way
to get to know them is to participate in many festivals and flea markets throughout the region. In August,
the National Festival of Maccheroncini di Campofilone (FM) is dedicated to the particular type of pasta
rich in omega 3 and vitamins. In Monteprandone (AP) also in August you can take a trip to the Festival of
typical products of the land of San Giacomo della Marca, in homage to the great Franciscan preacher who
had so much success in the Marche, and Pedaso (FM) to the Mussels Festival. There are many festivals
dedicated to wine, the symbol of the Marche region, among the best known: the Verdicchio Festival in
Matelica (MC) and the National Verdicchio Award in Staffolo (AN), the Vernaccia di Serrapetrona (MC)
Festival that celebrates one of the DOCG of the most famous brands also abroad. Do not miss the Grape
Festival in the beautiful town of Cupramontana (AN). The arrival of autumn is anticipated by the
excellences of the Marches, among them the XVI and. of Pane Nostrum in September in Senigallia (AN).
